The Importance of a Responsive Website
Share

Most people agree that if you are running a business it is important to have a website.
This provides you with an online presence and a place customers and potential customers can come to identify the services or products that you sell.
However, when designing your website, your customer should be at the forefront of your mind.
How your customer or potential customer experiences your website is the most important thing.
If they have a good experience they may guide people to your site and your products or services. If they have a bad experience they will simply leave your site and probably not return.
So how do you ensure visitors to your site have a positive experience?
The first thing to consider is how they are viewing your website.
More than half of internet traffic in the modern world is via smartphones and tablets.
Therefore it is key that you have a responsive website that automatically adjusts to the user’s habits. If you don’t have a responsive website, when accessing it from a smartphone half the text may be cut off, the format may be off and it becomes impossible to navigate.
This makes your company look unprofessional and sometimes the website will be the first impression a potential client will have of your business.
A responsive website will look good on all devices, although obviously some business types – photographers for example – may look better on a larger screen than a smartphone. However, even if this is the case, it is important to target everyone.
A responsive website will encourage visitors to spend longer on your website, can help your search engine rankings which, in turn, will make you more visible online.
